Important OHS Sports Information:

To our community and families,

Montrose County School District (MCSD) recognizes the important role of summer sports and activities in the livelihood and learning of all students in our community. As such, the official start date for MCSD summer athletic and activities operations is June 22, 2020

All participation in summer sports and activities will be voluntary (for both coaches and students).

Using guidance from the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA), the National Federation of State High School Associations, input from local Public Health officials, and co-planning with Montrose and Olathe coaches and athletic directors, MCSD has finalized our Base Athletic & Activities Contingency Plan for 2020-2021 which can be viewed on the district webpage, official Facebook page, and accessed from the link in this digital memorandum.

The base plan contains annexes outlining protocols necessary to prevent contagion while returning to play safely and as soon as possible.

Prior to returning to play on June 22, 2020, all parents, coaches, athletes and participants must complete the following:

*Read the Base Plan and Annexes and understand the expectations for your sport or activity.

Take these precautions seriously; we can only return to play if we are all willing to keep ourselves, our families, our teams and our community safe and prevent the spread of COVID-19 together.

MCSD believes in the power of athletics and activities to change and enrich our student’s lives.  We also believe in our coaches and activity sponsors and their ability to work within the developed guidelines.  Finally, we trust and believe in our student-athletes and families and count on them to communicate to coaches all necessary health and safety information, ensuring our ability to return to play throughout summer.

*Know the symptoms of COVID-19 (i.e. fever, cough, and shortness-of-breath). Self-check before reporting to practice or campus and DO NOT participate if you are sick or experiencing symptoms. Coaches will also check and track participants' symptoms starting each day of practice.

*Bring your own mask or face covering; PPE will be required for all participants during entry-and-exit and during non-vigorous-exercise activities.

*Bring your own water bottle for hydration, labeled with your first and last name; water fountains and communal hydration stations increase the risk of viral spread and are currently restricted.

***Provide coaches with a signed
participation waiver at first summer practice in order to participate.

We look forward to seeing everyone back on the playing field beginning June 22nd!
